ABSTRACT

Nomophobia is a fear of being without a mobile device or contact. It is recognized as a significant threat to social, mental and physical well-being, emphasising the need for the medical and educational sectors to address adolescents behaviour, perception and academic advancement concerning this phenomenon. This study aims to raise awareness and educate students about the subtle yet pervasive phobia they unknowingly experience daily. The research study focuses on influence of online life on the younger generation, exploring its impact on interpersonal interactions. A thorough review of relevant literature related to the research study was undertaken to acquire information, insights and establish the foundational basis for the study. The results further indicated a positive and moderate association between nomophobia and psychopathological symptoms. The findings of this study suggest that the use of smart phones has a negative impact on adolescents mental, physical, educational and social well- being, resulting in a detrimental condition leading to dependence and impacting academic performance.
