ABSTRACT
Gender discrimination refers to any unfair actions or conduct by an individual. It affects people lives in a deep-seated manner, taking away their opportunities. In some cases, gender discrimination isn’t covert. Especially when pertaining to exchange of services, like within the healthcare system. Awareness of gender discrimination in healthcare focuses on the individual being able to understand and recognise the biases, disparities and inequalities in availing treatment from healthcare systems.
The study aims to assess awareness of females regarding gender-based discrimination in healthcare systems, in India. The study uses an online survey to collect data from female respondents. It is quantitative by nature. The objective is to understand patient’s treatment experiences and awareness about their rights.
The findings highlight the perspective of one aspect of the population. However, there lies a need for continued efforts to address instances of discrimination and promote gender equality in healthcare.
