ABSTRACT
The concept of circular economy was highlighted in Dubai Plan 2021 as a key focus area. Since Dubai wishes to become the regional centre for the circular economy and sustainability initiatives, the Dubai Health Authority, being one of the major governmental entities in the healthcare arena, should play a pivotal role not only in the development of the circular economy but also in the implementation of green procurement policies. At present, circular economy procurement remains yet to be a high ambition for the circular economy in the healthcare sector. Procurement and supply chain policies and practices in the healthcare sector are in urgent need of modernizing to support the transition towards a circular economy and to promote sustainable development. In order to address this gap, this research aims to investigate how smart procurement can be employed to develop circular economy models in the healthcare sector. The study also seeks to assess how smart procurement methods contribute to firm performance within the context of circular economy adoption. By exploring these connections, this study aims to shed light on the association between procurement models and business value, and how this association affects the development and implementation of sustainable models.
