ABSTRACT
This article examines the role of Human Rights Education (HRE) in tertiary education as an interdisciplinary subject to promote sustainable development, with a focus on several Asian countries, and provides recommendations for Vietnam. The article reviews the literature on the relationship between HRE, interdisciplinary studies, and sustainable development, and offers recommendations for Vietnam to enhance its HRE initiatives in tertiary education, including interdisciplinary curriculum development, faculty training, and student engagement. The article argues that HRE as an interdisciplinary subject is a critical tool in promoting sustainable development in Vietnams tertiary education system, as it equips students with a multidisciplinary approach to address social, economic, and environmental challenges. The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of HRE as an interdisciplinary subject in promoting sustainable development and social justice in tertiary education, and encourages educators, policymakers, and researchers to prioritize HRE as part of their interdisciplinary curriculum.
