ABSTRACT

The study of eco-ethics has gained a lot of importance nowadays. Environmental ethics explores that realm of applied philosophy which reiterates environmental values in keeping with societal perspectives, behaviours, and regulations intended to conserve and uphold biodiversity and ecological frameworks. Literature can raise this theme like a beacon and the Northeast of India which is replete with eco-ethical concerns exhibited in the works of the literary writers of the region can serve this purpose conspicuously. Among these writers Mamang Dai with her novel The Black Hill is a testament to various manifestations of environmental consciousness and environmental ethics found in this region.
