Differential Reactions of Male and Female Students to the New Innovative and Flexible Learning Modality

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to see how male and female students reacted differently to the new innovative and flexible learning modality amid the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of their perceptions and experiences, the importance of pedagogy, and their feedback on the teaching strategy that is taking place at home. A mixed-approach research method was used. The target participants and beneficiaries were the 60 freshman college students from Iligan City and Lanao del Norte, Philippines enrolled during the COVID-19 first semester of 2020-2021. A Purposive sampling procedure was used in choosing the participants. The data analysis used was the mean and standard deviation which analyzed the differential reactions of the male and female students to the new innovative and flexible learning modality. Frequency and percentage were used in analyzing the profile of the students. The study was conducted in the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) of Iligan City and Lanao del Norte, Philippines. Findings reveal that male and female students in Higher Education Institutions in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte, Philippines have a flexible mindset of adapting to the changing mode of learning. Both male and female students have the same positive reactions to the new innovative and flexible learning modality. Their reaction implies that using a flexible and remote learning mode is the best strategy for maintaining classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, there is gender equality in students’ reactions to the new innovative and flexible mode of learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
