Production and Marketing of Almond in Afghanistan: An Analysis

ABSTRACT
Agriculture is the main source of survival for 75 percent of the rural population of Afghanistan and an important sector for national food security and economic growth (Afghanistan-Statistical-Year-book-2017-18). Main agricultural crops of the country are corn, rice, barley, wheat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, cotton, tobacco, castor beans, and sugar beets. This paper will discuss about the production and marketing of Almond in Afghanistan. The Primal objectives of this study is to identify the pattern of dried fruits production, to examine the influence of exporting dried fruits on its production level, and to determine the impact of population and per capita income on dried fruits production. The data for this study was collected from Central Statistical Organization (CSO) of Afghanistan. The collected data was analyzed with the help of descriptive statistics and regression analysis so as to be able to test the established hypotheses. The study found that repressors such as Exports, Population and PCI can significantly influence the level of dried fruits production for better performance, government should provide peace and political stability for traders & investors to enhance exports to international markets.
