Historical Development of Vajrayana Buddhism in Bhutan
is a study focusing on the origination of Vajrayana Buddhism in Bhutan, the
reasons for the flourishment and popularity among the people of Bhutan to the
extent of becoming it as the state religion of Bhutan. This Research talks on
the practices and essence of Vajrayana Buddhism, what are the practices a
practitioner has to go through during preliminary round and after becoming a
full-fledged Vajrayana practitioner and the crux of Vajrayana Buddhism. It also
highlights on perception of Vajrayana Buddhism on Women, in Vajrayana they
usually don’t discriminate against women and doesn’t place them as inferior to
men as there are numerous female deities and goddesses who attained
enlightenment and rose to equal status as men deities. They are also very
popular in Vajrayana pantheon as well as among the practitioners.
