The purpose of present study was to explore the
effects of scheduled activities (skill improvement training) on hyperactive
behaviour of children of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade aged between 6 to 9 years.
Methods: After screening, 38 school children were identified with hyperactive
behaviour. The participants were stratified into control group (n=19) and
experimental group (n=19). The sample was selected by using multistage sampling
method. The tool used for assessment of hyperactive behaviour was DSM-IV ADHD
Symptoms Checklist-Child and Adolescent Version 6177. The checklist consisted
of 19 items. Data was analysed by applying correlated t-test. Results: The
observations of the study explained that there was a significant decrease in
hyperactive behaviours after intervention. Conclusion: It can be concluded that
the scheduled activities (skill improvement training) is an effective strategy
to improve the behaviour and skills of the children with hyperactivity.
Implications: The finding can be used to identify children with hyperactive
behaviours and intervention or skill improvement training can be conducted to
reduce the hyperactive behaviour of young children as well.
