Self-employed Nepalese Woman on Decision-making Ability in Buddhist Community

ABSTRACT

Nepal is going through a crucial period of economic and socio-political transition. For a sustainable development every gender, cast and classes should be enhanced in socio economic standards. Employment is the main weapon of economic development. 51.04 percent people were female and 9 percent people followed Buddhism. The economic growth status of Buddhist women ultimately supports on their decision-making ability under financial, education, health, social and political aspects. This study tried to identify the association between selfemployment and women decision-making capabilities who follows Buddhism. Primary data were collected from 100 respondents in Kathmandu Valley who were Buddhist and selfemployed. Chi-square test were carried out to identify the association between selfemployment and decision-making abilities. The paper found that there is a positive strongly association between self-employment and decision right on the purchase, or repair of house, taking decision to work for income, decision making on purchasing gold and jewelry for their family, taken decisions on saving, borrowing and investment, taking decisions on the problems of our children education, taking decision on number of children birth, taking decision on the spacing between children, taking decision on the contraceptive to be used, association with political parties.
