Gas Sensing Properties of Tungsten Doped Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4 Nano Particles

ABSTRACT
Tungsten doped Ni-Zn ferrites particles with composition Ni0.6Zn0.4 Wx Fe2-xO4 (x=0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0) have been prepared by chemical co-precipitation method. IR spectroscopy in mid IR range was carried out for structural information. It was found that characteristics absorption bands exist in the spectrum. SEM confirmed the nano size formation. The metal oxide pellet type resistive sensor was made for gas sensor application. The sensors are selective for Hydrogen gas. The composition with x=0.4 at an optimum temperature of 200°C showed a fast response and recovery time. High selectivity and sensitivity, low cost, long term stability, fast response at low temperature makes this sensor useful for industrial applications.
