ABSTRACT

This study uses data from 1971 to 2020 to look at the effects of economic reforms on agricultural exports, agricultural imports, and total agricultural trade. All the data has been obtained from the Reserve Bank of India Handbook. This study makes use of trend analysis, descriptive statistics, and regression analysis with a dummy variable. The trend analysis reveals that Indias agricultural exports, agricultural imports, and total agricultural trade increased steadily before the economic reforms but increased more rapidly after the reforms. On the basis of the results, it can be stated that Indias exports have stayed stable throughout the study period, whereas its imports have fluctuated considerably. From the regression analysis with a dummy variable, we can reveal that the 1991 economic reforms had a significant impact on agriculture exports, agriculture imports, and overall agriculture trade.
