A Study on Self-efficacy and Academic Achievement Among Higher Secondary Students

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to explore the relationship between the self-efficacy and academic achievement among higher secondary students based on gender. In the study, the descriptive research design was used. Simple random sampling techniques was adopted for the study and data were collected from 180 students of higher secondary stage of Tinsukia district Assam. The tool used by the researcher ‘Self-efficacy Scale’ developed by Dr. Arup Kumar Singh & Dr. Shruti Narain for measuring Self-efficacy among higher secondary students and for academic achievement marks obtained by the students in previous final examination have been collected. The statistical techniques used in this study was mean, standard deviation, t-test and Karl Pearsons product moment method. The finding of the results shows that there was a significant positive relationship between Self-efficacy and Academic achievement of the students. There was significant difference with regard to self-efficacy and academic achievement of male and female students. Female students were significantly higher self-efficacy than male students.
