ABSTRACT
Like the Vedic hymns, folk music or folk songs are very ancient and the simplest expressions of human sensibilities. He remained alive till today by emanating from the public mind, not by writing but by taking the help of public tongue. The Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi said that in folk songs the earth sings, the mountains sing, the rivers sing, the crops sing. Folk groups sing folk songs with melodious vocals on festivals, fairs and other occasions. In the words of Late Ramnaresh Tripathi, as if a river flows out of a dark cave and no one knows its origin, the same condition has been accepted by learned sages about folk songs. Acharya Ramchandra Shukla, while approving this effect says that whenever the poetry of the virtuous becomes restless and compressed by being bound by the pundits, then it will spread alive and conscious among the general public of the country by accepting the life element from the natural flow of emotion. will only be received. Folk songs are the words of nature. Being free from the rhetoric and rhetoric of literature, by flowing melody as a conductor of human sensibilities, it takes us to the world of trance. The themes of folk songs are related to the innate sensibility of the common man. In these songs, natural beauty, happiness and sorrow and various rites and births and deaths have been presented in a very heart touching manner. When the musical nature hums, it is natural for the folk songs to sparkle. Inspired by the natural effects of different seasons, these folk songs get absorbed in the natures rasa. The songs of Barah Masa, Chaimasa and Chaumasa prove to underline this truth. Possessive sensibilities have filled these songs with a magical effect. Kajari, Jhoola, Hindola, Alha etc. sung in the Pavas season are proof of this. To keep the society alive, it is very important to save the folk songs / folk cultures. It is said that in a society where there are no folk songs, there are more lunatics. For centuries the oppressed society, especially women, took the help of folk songs to express the social stigma/ humiliation/ turmoil associated with family taunts/ life struggles. Folk songs are not the creations of any particular period or poet. The names of the authors of most of the folk songs are unknown. Actually a single song is completed by passing through all the throats. Women have contributed significantly in keeping the folk songs alive. Today, in the storm of globalization, we have destroyed our arts. Their own cultures are becoming useless / worthless. In such a time, the organization of Jogia, Fazilnagar, Kushinagar district- Lokrang Cultural Committee has started the work of saving folk songs. The organization has collected many folk songs and has also published in its publications. The organization is also engaged in the investigation of important folk artists and has discovered important folk artists like Rasool who was a contemporary of Bhikhari Thakur and important artists like him.
