Echo of Indian Society in R.K Narayan’s The Guide

ABSTRACT

The essence of fiction is to provoke thought and analogies between the book at hand and the time in which one lives. This paper intends to achieve the stated objective by analysing the novels variety of themes. It also illuminates the characters who function for all that Narayan intends to express in the work. Set in a fictitious Indian hamlet, the story provides a detailed depiction of everything that the Indian culture represents.
