ABSTRACT
Small and medium-sized enterprises constitute about 95 percent of Indias total industrial units, both registered and unregistered. It employs 40 percent of the workforce in India. But our natural and human resources are greatly affected due to the lack of sustainable practices in these small and medium-sized enterprises, as the major aspect for small and medium-sized enterprises today is to increase their revenues. A number of emerging problems have been posing significant challenges for small and medium businesses in recent years. In small and medium-sized businesses, there is a lack of funds and awareness, which causes delays in achieving sustainability. Through job formation, poverty alleviation and economic growth, small and medium-sized enterprises are the central pillars of sustaining sustainable development. Small and medium-sized companies are more versatile than MNCs, since they can adapt or adjust quickly to meet environmental goals. Small and medium businesses can bring both economic growth and environmental sustainability with the right approach. Solid waste is a significant contributor to environmental degradation in different types of waste. Research on environmental activities of Small and medium enterprises is very rare in Haryana. In Haryana, study on the environmental practices of small and medium-sized companies is very limited. This study aims to close this gap by examining the amount of hazardous waste that affects the environment in the Gurugram district of Haryana. The study also suggests sustainability measures that should be taken by Haryanas small and medium enterprises to improve the environment. This analysis was carried out by secondary sources.
