ABSTRACT

The present research paper concentrates on the issue of subaltern in Jack London’s The Iron Heal, The War of Classes and The People of Abyss. The writer has portrayed unjust social conditions, hoping for a change in the basic social structure. He has paved the way for a better social understanding between different classes of society so that a strong, developed nation be raised on the foundation of equality, prosperity, brotherhood and justice where everybody should have an equal share and where there should not be a single underfed, unclothed, unsheltered human being. The paper is a humble endeavour to see how Jack London wanted the darkness of slums to be turned into the glimmering lights of metropolitan cities in America.
